Anemia
The most common cause of anemia is not having enough iron. Our bodies need iron to make hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein that carries oxgyen from lungs to rest of the body. In hht the most common cause of anemia is blood loss, whether that be nosebleeds, bleeding in intestinal tract or for female hht patients heavy periods or a combination of all.
Anemia can make you feel tired, cold, dizzy and irritable. It can cause headaches or shortness of breath. Your GP or consultant will talk through treaments such as an iron supplement or in severe cases iron infusion but eating an iron rich diet can help.

Iron-fortified cereals or bread
Red meat
Black pudding
Dark green leafy vegetables
White meat
Brown rice
Pulses and beans
Nuts and seeds
Fish
Tofu
Dried fruit
Foods that make it hard for body to absorb iron.
Tea
Coffee
Calcium
Wholegrain cereals
Antacids ( used for indigestion) also make it hard for body to absorb iron.
